Keizo Obuchi

Age: 62

Japanese prime minister who fell into a coma after suffering a stroke in April. He was plucked to be prime minister in 1998 by the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, and defied expectations by revitalizing Japan's foundering economy, which had experienced rampant unemployment, bank failures, and a depleted pension fund.

Died: Tokyo, May 14, 2000
