Douglas Fairbanks Jr.

Age: 90

debonair actor, producer, and diplomat who starred in 75 films, including The Prisoner of Zenda and Gunga Din. The son of silent film legend Douglas Fairbanks, the younger actor initially resisted swashbuckling roles to avoid inevitable comparisons with his father. His most successful films, however, were indeed action adventures. He earned an honorary knighthood for his work with the United Nations and other relief organizations.

Died: Manhattan, May 7, 2000
