UN Peacekeeping Missions
Since 1948 there have been 63 UN peacekeeping operations, of which 47
have been created by the United Nations Security Council since 1988. Close
to 130 nations have contributed personnel at various times, and 119 are
currently providing peacekeepers. As of September 2007, there were 17
peacekeeping operations under way with more than 100,00 personnel. The top
contributors of military and civilian personnel to current missions were
Pakistan (10,173), Bangladesh (9,675), India (9,471), and Nepal
(3,628).
