Penelope Fitzgerald

Age: 83

novelist who wrote her first book at age 60. Known for her elegant prose and autobiographical stories, Fitzgerald won the 1997 National Book Critics Circle Award for The Blue Flower and the 1979 Booker Prize for Offshore.
