  • April 8, Marana, Ariz.: A Marine Corps Osprey aircraft crashed as it was landing after a training mission. All 19 on board were killed.
  • April 13, Philippines: The Philippine boat Annahada, overloaded with illegal passengers, capsized off the Jolo island coast. Eighty-seven people, en route to Malaysia, were killed.
  • April 19, Davao, Philippines: An Air Philippines jet crashed while attempting to land at Davao Airport. All 131 aboard were killed, making it the country's worst plane crash.
  • April 27, Flamingo Cay, Bahamas: A ship carrying nearly 300 Haitian migrants ran aground on an uninhabited island in the Bahamas. Fourteen people died of dehydration before rescuers reached the group.
