Sig Mickelson

television-news pioneer who launched the television career of Walter Cronkite. In 1952, he called on Cronkite, then a local Washington newscaster, to anchor CBS's coverage of the presidential conventions. Mickelson served as president of CBS News from 1961 to 1970.
