Roger Vadim Age: 72
French director whose first film, And God Created Woman (1956), launched the career of then-wife Brigitte Bardot. One of France's pioneering New Wave directors, Vadim directed several controversial, erotic films, including No Sun in Venice (1957), Blood and Roses (1960), and Barbarella (1968). He was married to the actresses Annette Stroyberg, Jane Fonda, Catherine Schneider, and Marie-Christine Barrault, and had a child with Catherine Deneuve. Died: Paris, Feb. 11, 2000
