Screamin' Jay Hawkins

Age: 70

larger-than-life rock performer whose shows included screams, voodoo, and various reptiles. He's best remembered for his drunken recording of “I Put a Spell on You.” Hawkins influenced musicians ranging from Jimi Hendrix to Alice Cooper to Marilyn Manson.

Died: Neuilly-sur-Seine, Feb. 12, 2000
