jazz cornetist and composer who often collaborated with his saxophonist brother Julian “Cannonball” Adderley; of complications from diabetes. As composer for the Adderley Quintet, Nat helped popularize soul jazz in the 1960s. His compositions include the standards “The Work Song,” “Jive Samba,” and “Hummin'.” Died: Lakeland, Fla., Jan. 2, 2000
