Ray Katt

Age: 72

major league catcher with N.Y. Giants and St. Louis Cardinals from 1952-59; career: .232-32-120; won World Series title with N.Y. in 1954; coached St. Louis and Cleveland before retiring in 1963; coached Texas Lutheran from 1971-92, compiling a 502-362-2 record. He died of lymphoma.

Died: New Braunfels, Texas, October 20, 1999
