actor whose career spanned four decades and included an Oscar nomination. The British character actor will be best remembered on these shores for his role in the 1998 sleeper hit Waking Ned Devine. His other films include The Flight of the Phoenix and Braveheart. He died in a car accident. Died: near Loch Ness, Scotland, October 28, 1999
