Quentin Crisp

Age: 90

flamboyant writer and actor who gained recognition as he tried to make homosexuality acceptable to the masses. His book, The Naked Civil Servant, which chronicled his tormented childhood, propelled him to international fame. He moved to the U.S. from London in the 1970s and was greeted by acceptance and praise.

Died: Manchester, England, November 21, 1999
