Clarence L. Harris Age: 94lunch manager who in 1960 let four black students remain at Woolworth's whites-only counter. Harris did not serve the protesters, but his insistence that police not be called helped energize the sit-in, which after six months succeeded in integrating the counter. The action sparked similar tests across the South. Died: Greensboro, N.C., July 12, 1999Information Please® Database, © 2007 Pearson Education, Inc. All rights reserved.
