DeDe Owens

Age: 53

teaching professional at Cog Hill Golf and Country Club in Lemont, Ill. and one of the country's most popular golf instructors; forced to leave LPGA Tour after a brief career due to Hodgkin's disease; joined LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Division in 1974 and began teaching at Cog Hill in 1977; two-time LPGA Teacher of the Year; author of several instructional books. She was stricken by a heart attack on May 9 and remained in a coma until her death.
