linebacker for Tampa Bay Buccaneers and team captain at Notre Dame; played for the Fighting Irish from 1989 to 1992; second-round draft pick of Tampa Bay in 1993 and played four seasons with the team; signed with the Jets in 1997 but released four months later. Died of gunshot wounds sustained after a struggle with police.
