George Papadopoulos

Age: 80

Greek military figure who led a bloodless coup in 1967 and went on to become the dictator of Greece until his government was overthrown in 1973. He was arrested the following year, along with 19 others involved in the coup, and convicted of treason and insurrection.

Died: Athens, Greece, June 27, 1999
