Samuel Bartholomew

blocking back who captained Tennessee's 1939 undefeated, unscored upon football team (reg. season); won trophy for outstanding blocker in the SEC in 1938 and 1939; three-year letterman in football and track; played one season of pro football in Philadelphia in 1941; earned the Purple Heart and Bronze Star while fighting with Gen. George Patton's 3rd Army in WWII; SEC football official for 15 years, retiring in 1967; worked as superintendent at Eastman Kodak Co. until his retirement in 1982. He died of pneumonia.
