Norm Zauchin

Age: 69

first baseman for Boston and Washington in six major league seasons; best known for driving in 10 runs with three home runs and a double in five innings during a 16-0 victory over Washington on May 27, 1955; finished third in A.L. Rookie of the Year voting in 1955; hit 35 home runs as a rookie in 1950 with the Birmingham Barons. Zauchin died of a long illness.

Died: Birmingham, Ala., January 31, 1999
