John Davison Rockefeller, Jr.

philanthropist
Born: 1/29/1874
Birthplace: Cleveland, Ohio

Following in his father's philanthropic footsteps, Rockefeller spent his life giving away the vast fortune amassed by his father. His legacy includes the Rockefeller Center in New York, the founding of the USO during World War II, and the location of the United Nations in New York since he donated the land on which the institution is built. He was a significant contributor to the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York, and to the restoration of colonial Williamsburg, Virginia.
