John B. Pendleton lithographerBorn: 1798 Birthplace: New York City Recognized as the first practioner of lithography in the U.S., Pendleton learned his technique in France during his trip there in 1824. He founded a lithography business in Boston in 1825, then in New York in 1829, where he trained Nathaniel Currier in the process.
