Neil McElroy

A business executive who took his Harvard diploma to Cincinnati to work for Procter & Gamble. He worked through the ranks in advertising and gained the post of president (1948–57) then took some time off to serve in the as Secretary of Defense under President Eisenhower (1957–59). He returned from Washington and became chairman of P&G (1959–72).
