Conrad Hilton

hotelier
Born: 12/25/1887
Birthplace: San Antonio, New Mexico

Having begun his career working in his father's store, he expanded the business and after his father's death began building a hotel empire with the purchase of the Mobley Hotel in Cisco. He purchased other hotels in Texas, forming the Hilton Hotels Corporation in 1946. In the 1950s the company began to diversify into other travel-related services, including car rentals and credit cards.

Died: 1/3/1979
