E.W. (Skip) Etchells

influential boat builder who won several U.S. and international yachting championships; designed the Etchells 22, a design now known as the International Etchells Class of sailboats; with his wife, Mary, as his crew, Etchells won the Star Class world championship in 1951; at the University of Michigan he won three consecutive Big Ten titles in the discus; retired in 1984; cause of death not given
