Dr. Barnett Slepian,

Amherst, N.Y., doctor who performed abortions, was killed by a sniper in October while sitting in his home. Slepian had been receiving death threats from anti-abortion activists since the 1980s. N.Y. governor George Pataki labelled the murder an “act of terrorism” as the search for the killer began.
