Bob Kane Age: 83
revered illustrator who created the legendary comic book figure-cum-movie hero “Batman” in 1939. The first Batman strip, The Case of the Chemical Syndicate debuted in 1939 in Detective Comics. Kane also created Robin, Batman's sidekick and several memorable villains, including The Joker, The Penguin and The Riddler. Died: Nov. 3, 1998.
