James Hillier

Born: 1915

Electron lens correction device—Hillier is noted for his contributions to the development of the electron microscope. The electron lens is used to focus a beam of electrons just as an optical lens focuses light rays. In 1937 he helped build a model that magnified 7000 times. (1980)
