George Eastman

Birthplace: Waterville, N.Y.

Method and apparatus for coating plates for use in photography—Before Eastman, photographers used glass plates with light-sensitive emulsions on them. Eastman put the emulsions first on paper, then on film rolls. He also developed a stronger motion picture film. (1977)
