Akira Kurosawa

Age: 88

world-renowned Japanese director whose acclaimed films included Rashomon (1951), Dersu Uzala (1975), and The Seven Samurai (1954). Kurosawa won three Acadmey Awards, including a Lifetime Achievement award in 1990.

Died: Sept. 5, 1998.
