“Big Jim,” who stood 6-foot-5, 205 pounds, pitched for 13 seasons with St. Louis, Philadelphia and the NY Giants; won Game 3 of the 1951 World Series after compiling a 17-9 record with the NL champion Giants; retired in 1959 with a career record of 109-89; opened the Jim Hearn Golf Center in 1961 and retired from that work 10 years ago, of Hodgkin's lymphoma
