Eddie Arcaro

only jockey in history to ride two Triple Crown champions, Whilaway in 1941 and Citation in 1948; nicknamed "The Master," Arcaro rode 4,779 winners, including five Kentucky Derby titles and six victories in both the Preakness and Belmont stakes; the 5-foot-3 rider began his career in 1931 when he failed to win a single race on a horses that earned a combined $200; after more than 24,000 career mounts and total earnings of $30,309,543, Arcaro became a network television racing analyst; of liver cancer
