Helen Carter

Helen was a member of the Carter family band that played a significant role in the development of country music. The band's influence is still recognizable today in country, folk and bluegrass bands that record cowboy ballads and mountain hymns. After the band dissolved in 1943, Carter joined Mother Maybelle and the Carter Sisters. The Carter Family hits include A Song to Mama, “Travelin' Minstrel Band,” and “Praise the Lord and Pass the Soup.”
