Kevin Bacon Biography

Kevin Bacon

actor
Born: 7/8/1958
Birthplace: Philadelphia

After his movie debut in National Lampoon's Animal House (1978), he did a couple of stints on soaps Search For Tomorrow (1979) and The Guiding Light (1980–81) before returning to the big screen. His leading role in Barry Levinson's Diner (1982) was followed by leads in Flatliners (1990), A Few Good Men (1992), and Apollo 13 (1995). His career became particularly prolific in the 1990s, leading to the invention of the game Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, which postulates that any actor is only six people away from having worked with Bacon in some film. For example, Robert De Niro would be only two degrees away, having worked with Meryl Streep in The Deer Hunter, and Streep having worked with Bacon in The River Wild (1994). Other film appearances include Stir of Echoes (1999) and My Dog Skip (2000). Bacon has been married to actress Kyra Sedgewick since 1988.
