considered the father of golf merchandising, he introduced the concept of spiked golf shoes and apparel to golf shops across the nation in the 1940's; later introduced the Lacoste alligator featured on Izod shirts to the golf world; helped launch the PGA Merchandise Show in 1954; the PGA created the “Ernie Sabayrac Award for Lifetime Contributions to the Golf Industry” in his honor; after a brief illness
