Tony Zale Age: 83
middleweight champion from 1940–48, he battled Rocky Graziano for the world middleweight championship three times during the 1940's; Zale beat Graziano in the pair's first and last fights. Three months after recapturing the title in the final fight, Zale lost to French boxer Marcel Cerdan; he retired at the age of 35 and served with the U.S. Navy for four years; after struggles with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases Died: Portage, Ind., March 20, 1997
