Troy Ruttman

became the youngest driver to win the Indianapolis 500 when he did so at the age of 22 in 1952; first raced at the Brickyard when he was 19, two years younger than the rules allow; also first Indy 500 winner to race Formula One when he drove at Reims, France; his son Troy Jr. died in a crash at the Pocono Raceway in 1969 and his younger brother is currently a driver on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series; of lung cancer
