Israel Gets Dragged into the Syrian Conflict

On November 11, 2012, stray mortar fire from Syrian artillery units hit inside Israel. Israel responded by firing warning shots into Syria. It was the first time Israel fired into Syria in 39 years.

The following day, according to Israeli military, a mortar shell from Syria hits near an army post in Golan Heights. There were no injuries or damage done to the army post. Israel responded by firing tank shells at Syrian artillery units.
