Auerstedt

Auerstedt (ou'urshtet) [key], village, Thuringia, S central Germany. At Auerstedt on Oct. 14, 1806 (the same day Napoleon I triumphed at Jena), French Marshal Louis Nicholas Davout defeated the Prussians under Duke Charles of Brunswick.
