Young, Arthur

Young, Arthur, 17411820, English agriculturist. His writings hastened the progress of scientific farming. He traveled widely, always observing techniques of farming. In 1784, Young founded the periodical Annals of Agriculture and edited it through 1808. Among his other works are three accounts of tours in England (1768–71) and Travels during the Years 1787, 1788, 1789, and 1790 (1792–94).
