Joan Baez singer

Soprano Joan Baez brought folk music into the mainstream with her best-selling albums and beautiful renditions of traditional ballads and spirituals. Her first album, the self-titled Joan Baez (1960), collected 13 such songs. Baez was one of the first politically outspoken performers, an advocate for civil rights and the peace movement.
