EncyclopediaShunshoShunsho (Katsukawa Shunsho) (kätsOO'käwä shoon'shō) [key], 1726–92, Japanese painter and printmaker. A painter of the ukiyo-e style (see Japanese art), in which costume design and color are executed with precision in an otherwise stylized setting, Shunsho specialized in portraits of Kabuki actors in their famous roles.
