Paardeberg

Paardeberg (pär'duburg, –berk) [key], historic location, Free State, South Africa. In Feb., 1900, during the South African War, Gen. Piet Cronje and his Boer (Afrikaner) troops were forced to surrender to the British army at Paardeberg.
