Jabal Shammar (jä'bäl shă'mur) [key], former emirate, N Saudi Arabia. Its capital was at Hail. In 1921, Ibn Saud conquered the forces of the emir, Ibn Rashid, and annexed the territory to his kingdom of Nejd.
