EncyclopediaDumont, Pierre Étienne LouisDumont, Pierre Étienne Louis (pyer ātyen' lwē dümôN') [key], 1759–1829, Swiss jurist and political writer. Dumont knew Mirabeau well and wrote many of his speeches. His Souvenirs sur Mirabeau (1832) is a valuable record of the times.
