Burnaby

Burnaby (bûr'nubē) [key], city (1991 pop. 158,858), eastern suburb of Vancouver, SW B.C., Canada. A transportation, industrial, and distribution center, its products include steel, trucks, telecommunications and electronic equipment, lumber, and processed fish. Named for local businessman Robert Burnaby (1828–78), the city began as a residential community for Vancouver. Simon Fraser Univ. is located there.
