Bache, Jules Semon

Bache, Jules Semon, 18611944, American banker and art collector, b. New York City. He made an immense fortune on Wall St., organized the banking firm of J. S. Bache and Company, and was director of 12 other firms. In 1937 he opened his magnificent art collection to the public, and in 1944 the collection was given permanently to the Metropolitan Mus. It includes famous works by Raphael, Titian, Rembrandt, Velázquez, and other masters.
