Albumazar

Albumazar (äl"bOOmä'zur) [key], 805?885, Arab astronomer, more fully Abu-Mashar Jafar ibn Muhammad. In his De magnis conjunctionibus he claimed that the world had been created when the seven planets were in conjunction in the first degree of the constellation Aries and that its end would come when they should be in conjunction again in the last degree of Pisces. In his astronomical tables he used the Persian calculations of the years and pointed out that they did not follow the Jews' reckoning of time.
