Richard Jaeckel actor Born: 10/10/1926 Birthplace: Long Beach, New York
Richard Jaeckel grew up in the light of the silver screen, attending Hollywood High and working as a delivery boy at Fox Studios before making his film debut in Guadalcanal Diary (1943). He went on to star in numerous war, Western, and action films and a smattering of martial arts movies. His television career spanned four decades, but he was best known for the “B” movies he made in the 1960s, most notably The Dirty Dozen (1967). Jaeckel won an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor in Sometimes a Great Notion (1971). Died: 6/14/1997
