The author of novels, short stories, essays, an opera libretto, and a screenplay, she was also a performance artist and a frequent collaborator on various musical and theatrical projects. Her works, including the novel Blood and Guts in High School (1984), are noted for their often raw language and disturbing content. Died: 11/30/1997
