A rapacious attempt to further exploit the success of those five young, talentless Brits while they're still semi-hot, Spice World offers no story and pitiful acting but plenty of costume changes and self-promotion. Though it doesn't come as much of a surprise, it wasn't a stretch to expect more than a 90-minute music video. Or was it? The sweet, not spicy, girls tool around London in their huge bus, wearing huge shoes, as they prepare for their first live performance to be held at Royal Albert Hall. They are pursued by a tabloid tag team, a documentary filmmaker (Cummings) and a movie producer (Wendt), all, not so ironically, looking to cash in on the band's success. The one thing to be said for this insipid effort is that the girls don't take themselves all that seriously.
