Dragged out over Mod Squad's hour and a half is some story concerning three former criminals turned undercover detectives. They seem to be investigating corrupt cops and an evil ex-boyfriend. Omar Epp's cool character is the only one of the hipster triumvirate who acts; Claire Dane's limpid performance as a recovering junkie is vaguely painful. Dodgy cinematographic issues aside, the Mod Squad's biggest letdown is its shaky, patchwork script that thwarts most attempts at coherence.
